The Indian car buyer is evolving. With more and more people being able to afford automobiles every year, the car market in India is blooming. Hyundai Creta has been the latest car to make it to the news as it was officially launched just last week amidst lots of buzz and anticipation.
Measuring 4270 mm in length, 1780 mm in width and 1630 mm in height, the Creta carries a wheelbase of 2590 mm and a healthy 190 mm ground clearance. A long bonnet with a three slat chrome grille edged by attractive projector head lights and LED daytime running lights marks the front portion. The wide front bumper has fog lamps and air intakes along with front under spoiler. A black cladding all over the bottom and a black outline on the windows along with prominent creases across the body makes the car look very sporty. Alloy wheels, body coloured ORVMs, roof rails, rear defogger and silver skid plates and wrap around tail lights all augment its sportiness.
Although the Creta is a compact SUV, its wheel base promises a decently spacious cabin with good head room and knee space. The dual tone dash board gets an uncluttered instrument cluster marked with silver accents.Adjustable front head rests, keyless entry, power windows, height adjuster for driver’s seat, adjustable rear seat head restraints, 7 inch infotainment system with steering mounted controls for audio system and Bluetooth, audio-video navigation and smart key with push button are some of the worthy comfort features. Creta is at par with its top rivals in terms of safety features also; few of them are engine immobilizer, dual airbags, impact sensing auto door unlock, electronic stability control with hill assist control, rear parking camera with guidelines and sensors and rear parking sensors.
Hyundai offers two diesel engines and one petrol motor. The diesel range gets a 1.4 litre CRDi diesel powertrain which produces maximum power of 90 PS along with 220 Nm of top torque and is mated to a six speed manual gearbox. The other diesel motor is a 1.6 litre,producing 128 PS of peak power and 260 Nm of maximum torque. This engine is available in six speed manual as well as six speed automatic transmissions. The petrol unit is a 1.6 litre VTVT gasoline engine capable of churning out a high power of 123 PS along with 151 Nm of top torque. This engine is also linked to the six speed manual transmission. All the engines are refined and the gear shifts are quite smooth. Mileage offered is also decent at 17-19 kmpl for the diesel ones and 15-21 kmpl for the petrol ones.
Hyundai Creta comes with a price tag of Rs 8.6-13.6 lakhs.
